Covid-19 and its fallouts:
No Kensington Magazine in the letterbox this month – but it’s online
The April 2020 edition of the Kensington Magazine, the free local magazine that has been distributed every month to all households in central Kensington for the past 14 years, will unfortunately not be arriving in people’s letterboxes. When it was about to go to print, the distribution company had just been informed it was likely that new government rules would make the distribution impossible. Faced with that risk, the printing was cancelled at the last minute.
The editor, Lucy Elliott, sent out an email on 1 April to various local organisations, saying that “it is with huge regret that we are not able to distribute our April edition today, which we had worked so hard on. It contains lots of information about local initiatives within W8 to help others in the community, and ideas for how to keep busy.”
However, Lucy has put it on the magazine’s website, for everybody to read, not just those who normally get it in the letterbox.
As we’re approaching Easter, the April issue focusses on Kensington’s churches and congregations, and how they are helping people in need during the epidemic.
On that website, there is also last minute local news about Covid-19, which Lucy intends to update regularly.
