Join the Kensington Society

The annual subscription for individual membership is £20 per year. This will keep you up-to-date with planning in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, society events and the annual report. Many members decide to give more than this by way of a donation.

More about the advantages of joining the Kensington Society can be found in our membership leaflet.

Click on the “Join us” button to register as member of the Kensington Society. Please read the details below first.

New membership

When clicking the button above, you will be taken to our new online membership registration. Please select “Member – £20” in the dropdown list. The other choice (“Two Towers Donations – Free”) is for those who only register in order to give a donation to the Two Towers campaign (see the other column).

You can also give a donation of your choice to the Kensington Society in the field “Donation”.

As we are a charity, you can give a little extra, at no cost to you, by leaving the Gift Aid box ticked. This will enable us to reclaim 25p of tax for every £1 you give us. If you do not qualify to give Gift Aid, please untick that box.

Once you have entered your name and contact details, you can go to the next page, where the entered details will be displayed. If you need to do corrections, just click the “Back” button, otherwise proceed to “Checkout”, where you are given the options to pay by immediately through your PayPal account or with a credit/debit card (administrated by PayPal), pay by bank transfer, or pay by standing order.

Before selecting the preferred pay button, you can at this stage, under “More Checkout Options”, register an additional member and also go to the Kensington Society Store, where you can give a Two Towers donation. If you do, you will afterwards be taken back to the checkout page and can then click on the preferred pay button.

If you pay via bank transfer or standing order

If you have selected to pay via bank transfer, you will receive an email with our bank details.

If you have selected to pay via standing order, you will receive an email with a fillable membership form which incorporates a standing order form, so you can either arrange a standing order with your bank or post the filled out form to the Kensington Society to authorise an annual standing order.

Paying via PayPal or with a credit/debit card makes you a member immediately, but if you pay via bank transfer or standing order, you will not be a member until the Kensington Society has received the money from your bank.

The Kensington Society privacy policy

As a result of the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on 25 May 2018, the Kensington Society has formulated its own privacy policy, which can be accessed here.

Support the Two Towers campaign!

On 11 May, the third public inquiry about the application for the massive Kensington Forum Hotel scheme will begin. All parties – the developer and the London mayor’s office on one side, and RBKC and a large group of residents’ associations on the other – are gearing up for the sixth and probably final fight in a battle which has gone one since 2018.

You can read more about it here.

The Kensington Society, together with the residents’ associations on both sides of Cromwell Road, are now busy preparing for the inquiry, which will be held virtually. In order to improve their chances of success, the residents’ organisations will need legal assistance. This will be expensive, so we urge all who are opposed to the scheme to give a donation towards the legal costs as soon as possible. Time is quickly running out.

Donate to the Two Towers campaign by clicking on the button “Donate”. Please read the details below first.

How to donate

For practical reasons, these donations are done via the Kensington Society’s online membership form. However, if you select “Two Towers Donations – Free” in the dropdown list on the membership form, you will NOT become a member, even though you must give your name and contact details in order to donate.

Please leave the Gift Aid box ticked if you want to enable us to reclaim 25p of tax for every £1 you give us. If you do not qualify to give Gift Aid, please untick that box.

Once you have filled out your name and contact details, you can either donate a sum of your choice to the campaign in the “Donate” field above the registration details, or click “Next” and then continue to “Checkout”, from where you continue to the Kensington Society store under “More Checkout Options” and select one of three different donation sums plus “number of items”, i.e. if you choose to give £50 x 3, the total donation will be £150 (plus 25% in Gift Aid if that box is left ticked). Once that is done, you will be returned to the checkout page, where you can select to pay with PayPal, credit/debit card or bank transfer. DO NOT select standing order, as that option is only intended for membership payments.

Existing members of the Kensington Society will unfortunately also have to enter their details in order to donate, as they aren’t yet on the new online registration system.

THANK YOU!
