A Kensington Society event:
The Kensington Society AGM 2025
When: Monday 16 June 2025, 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start
Where: Kensington Town Hall, the Great Hall, Hornton Street
On Monday 16 June, the Kensington Society will hold its 71st Annual General Meeting in Kensington Town Hall’s Great Hall. We look forward to meet as many members and friends as can possibly make it.
Our guest speaker this year will be Sir Simon Jenkins, the writer, journalist and columnist who has been editor of both the Evening Standard (1976-78) and The Times (1990-92), deputy chair of English Heritage 1985-1990, and chair of the National Trust 2008-2014.
He has been a columnist for the Guardian for the past 20 years and recently published his 2,001st column for the paper. His columns cover most subjects and he has never been afraid to be contrary – in fact, he seems to enjoy it.
Simon, who has lived in central Kensington for an eternity and was knighted in the 2004 New Year Honours for services to journalism, has also written numerous books on politics, history and architecture over the last 50 years and has also served on various boards, such as British Rail (1979-1990) and London Transport (1984–1986).
There will be drinks in the foyer afterwards, to which all are welcome.
Donation for non-member attendees welcome
This is a free event with no need for booking. However, a donation of £10 for each non-member attending will be appreciated and can be paid at the welcome table in the foyer to the Great Hall.
