Collingham Gardens (above) and Harrington Gardens (right) have 29 highly individual Grade II* listed houses, designed by the team Sir Ernest George and Harold Peto and built between 1880 and 1888. The houses were inspired by German and Flemish buildings that George had seen during his travels in Europe.

Celebrating the work of George and Peto:
A talk and walk with Hilary Grainger
Tuesday 5 June 2018, 6:30 to 8:30pm
Meeting place: inside 39 Harrington Gardens, SW7 4JU
This event was quickly sold out long when we held it in May 2017 and many expressed a wish to see it repeated. So here it is again!
The dramatic Victorian architecture of Sir Ernest George and his design partner Harold Peto graces Collingham Gardens and a stretch of Harrington Gardens. These Grade II* listed buildings housed the famous and fashionable, including W.S. Gilbert of Gilbert & Sullivan fame.
Professor Hilary Grainger, chairman of the Victorian Society and an expert on the two men’s work, will give a talk and a walking tour, including a viewing of the interiors of some of the best houses.
Tickets include a glass of wine at the end of the tour.
The size of the group is limited to 25 people, so sign up early.
Kensington Society members £20, non-members £25
