Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Kensington Society AGM has been postponed until it is deemed safe to hold it.

The Kensington Society AGM 2020

[DATE to be decided], 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start

Kensington Town Hall, the Great Hall, Hornton Street

On [date to be decided] you will all be welcome to our annual general meeting. As usual it will be held in the Great Hall, at Kensington Town Hall, Hornton Street, and will be followed by a wine reception in the Mayor’s Parlour.

When it happens, we hope that our guest speaker can still be George Clarke, architect, television presenter, campaigner, educator and Kensington resident. Best known for a number of television programmes about unusual home-building projects and homes left empty, he believes strongly that architecture, art and design should be accessible to all and has the power to transform lives.

In July 2019 he launched a campaign to encourage the building of more council houses, looking at some of the best and the worst housing on offer. In 2012 he won awards for his empty homes TV campaign The Great British Property Scandal.

More recently he finished another of his Old House New Home series for Channel 4.

Alongside his own architectural practice, George Clarke + Partners, he is involved in a number of charities, including the Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment and the Maggie Centres. He has recently been appointed a visiting professor of architecture and design at Birmingham University.

The AGM will begin at 7.00pm with doors opening at 6.30pm. The current mayor, Councillor Will Pascall, has invited all attendees to join him afterwards in the Mayor’s Parlour for a wine reception.

Kensington Society members attend for free, while non-members wishing to attend are kindly asked to make a donation towards the costs for the event.

George Clarke, architect, television presenter and housing campaigner, will hopefully still be able to be the guest speaker at our AGM when it happens, probably sometime in the autumn.

Our AGM is held in the Town Hall’s Great Hall, as usual. Get a closer or more distant view by clicking on the plus or minus signs, and get a full screen map by clicking on the open square in the upper right-hand corner.
